One of my favorite places in LA is
Ivy at The Shore. If you've taken a trip to LA, you have probably been to their more popular venue,
The Ivy on Robertson. Both restaurants are oh so charming and while their Beverly Hills location is always star studded with paparazzi waiting outside,
Ivy at The Shore in Santa Monica is much more endearing to me because it's quiet and surprise surprise.... it's at the shore! While there is no "DTLA Ivy"
yet, I have managed to recreate my favorite cocktail, which always leaves me feeling fantastic!

To make my version of the Ivy Gimlet:
Place two sprigs of organic mint at the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with ice. Fill 1/2 of the shaker with vodka (my favorite is Ketel One). Juice of one lime. A dash of Simple Syrup (try with stevia if you're calorie conscious). A few fresh mint leaves on top. Shake well (like until you can't feel your fingers it's so cold!). Fill a cocktail glass with fresh ice and pour. Garnish with a sprig of mint. Add more lime or sugar to taste. Easy, Peasy! Enjoy!
I call it the Downtown Gimlet as opposed to the Ivy Gimlet. And I must admit, it was after one of these bad boys that I finally got started on my blog!
